OSCE Centre co-organizes Canada study trip for Kyrgyz officials to learn about fighting money-laundering

BISHKEK, 6 March 2006 - Ways of fighting money-laundering and the financing of terrorism is the focus of a study trip to Ottawa by a group of Kyrgyz Members of Parliament and representatives of the country's Financial Intelligence Service and the National Bank.
Organized with the support of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and the Global Organization of Parliamentarians against Corruption, the week-long trip was funded by the Canadian Government.
"The trip will help Kyrgyz parliamentarians to learn about international experience in fighting money-laundering and the financing of terrorism," said Ambassador Markus Mueller, the Head of the OSCE Centre. "They will get acquainted with the Canadian Parliament's management system, and the role legislators can play in tackling the problem."
