LJUBLJANA, 8 July 2005 - The Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Central Asia, Alojz Peterle, today underlined the importance of political stability ahead of Sunday's presidential election in Kyrgyzstan.
"It is crucial that all political actors involved express their beliefs as well as their differences during the election campaign in a democratic and tolerant -- but certainly not in a violent -- way," he said in the Kyrgyz capital.
Peterle said he believed that a favourable election climate would be achieved by respecting the principles and commitments set out in the Charter of Accord, introduced by the OSCE on 13 June and signed by some of the candidates.
