OSCE Centre in Bishkek supports establishment of automated information system for registering corruption-related crimes

BISHKEK, 10 June 2015 - OSCE Centre in Bishkek helped the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan to launch an internal automated internet-based information system as part of efforts to tackle corruption.

“The automated information system for registering corruption-related offences will allow collecting comprehensive data and allow appropriate monitoring and evaluation of criminal justice system operations”, said Yulia Minaeva, the Head of the Economic and Environmental Dimension of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.

“This unified automated information system is vital for development of a framework for comprehensive fight against corruption. The availability of full and credible information directly affects the quality and timeliness of completed tasks,” said Ludmila Usmanova, Deputy Prosecutor General.

Currently there is no single agency responsible for information on corruption-related crimes as the data is collected by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the court and the General Prosecutor’s Office, according to the General Prosecutor’s Office. The automated information system will address this problem with the Department on Fight Against Corruption and Compliance of the General Prosecutor’s Office being in charge. One of the advantages of the system is availability of additional information, reference resources and features that ensure access to information of citizens in line with the current legislation.

The information system was developed by the state agency “Infosystema”.
