Head of OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes ratification of general election results
SARAJEVO, 3 November 2010 - Ambassador Gary D. Robbins, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, today welcomed the ratification of the general election results and congratulated the Central Election Commission on the successful administration of these important elections.
"The Commission, led by President Irena Hadziabdic, carried out its tasks in an effective, transparent and professional manner," Robbins said. "The OSCE Mission is ready to continue supporting the CEC's vital work."
The ratification decision does not include results for the Assembly of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, which will hold a new cantonal level election on 7 November. Robbins expressed support for the CEC's decision to ratify the other results, in view of the Commission's overall responsibilities.
Robbins also congratulated all successful parties, coalitions, and independent candidates that will now represent citizens at state, entity and cantonal levels, adding:
"Now it is up to you to come together, reflecting the wishes of those who voted for you, to discuss governing coalitions and to put forward competent candidates for ministerial positions. I therefore urge you to act quickly in order to address the pressing needs and concerns of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina."
