SARAJEVO, 7 August, 2003 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes the issuance by the Minister of Education of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of an instruction on administrative unification of the Mostar Old Gymnasium and the so-called 'two schools under one roof' in Capljina and Prozor Rama.
The OSCE Mission expects the relevant bodies to complete the implementation of the instruction by September 2003.
"We now urge the Ministry of Education in Central Bosnia Canton to follow the positive steps taken by Herzegovina-Neretva and Zenica-Doboj Cantons and to immediately issue an instruction on administrative and legal unification of schools so that implementation will be completed in time for the new school year," said Ambassador Robert M. Beecroft, Head of the OSCE Mission.
"By doing so, Central Bosnia Canton would fulfil its commitments towards the Education Reform Strategy to 'put an end to segregation and discrimination through education'."
As a result of an administrative and legal unification, the so-called 'two schools under one roof' in Zenica-Doboj and Herzegovina Neretva Canton, will be registered as one legal body, have one school director and one school board.
