SARAJEVO 14 May 2001
SARAJEVO, 14 May 2001 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes the formation of the Una Sana Canton Government, which was approved by the Cantonal Assembly on 11 May 2001.
"We hope that political party division in the canton, partially a heritage from the past, has come to an end and expect all parties to look into the future, co-operating constructively for the good of the population and not for party interests. We call on them to start working immediately," said OSCE Acting Head of Mission Ambassador Dieter Woltmann.
"The new Government has to deal with the most urgent issues of the budget, public finances, the economy, education and health and, in particular, combating corruption, will require courageous and unpopular decision," he said.
The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to monitor and to work with the Una Sana Government and political parties.
