SARAJEVO 30 March 2001
SARAJEVO, 30 March 2001 - OSCE Head of Mission Ambassador Robert L. Barry welcomes the election of Mr. Beriz Belkic and Mr. Jozo Krizanovic as members of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, following their votes of confirmation in the Bosnia and Herzegovina House of Peoples. Belkic and Krizanovic were nominated earlier this week by the Bosnia and Herzegovina House of Representatives to fill the vacant seats of the Bosniak and Croat members of the presidency, respectively.
"I look forward to working with the new presidency members, and trust that we will cooperate closely as they address the many challenges facing the country," said Barry. Belkic and Krizanovic join the Serb member of the presidency, Zivko Radisic, who was elected in September 1998 to a four-year term. Of the other two members of the presidency elected in 1998, the Bosniak member, Alija Izetbegovic, resigned last year while the Croat member, Ante Jelavic, was removed by the High Representative earlier this month.
