Seminar on security issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, 5 December 2000 - The Office of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Articles II and IV, and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina are glad to announce that the seminar, "Security Studies and Support of the Universities to the Stabilization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sub-Region and South-Eastern Europe", will take place in Mostar from 7 to 10 December.
This seminar has its genesis in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Inter-University Steering Committee on Security Studies (CSS). Present at the opening session will be Lt. General Jean, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chair in Office for Articles II and IV as well as Honorary Chairman of the CSS. In addition, Ambassador Gyarmati, the Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the CSS, and Bosnia and Herzegovina university rectors will be in attendance.
All media are kindly invited to attend the opening of the seminar and a press conference at the Pavarotti Music Center in Mostar on Friday, 8 December from 900 to 1000 hrs.

The OSCE established its present Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 December 1995. In accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP), the OSCE Mission activities are to: promote Democratization and the building of a vibrant civil society, foster the development of professional journalism and monitor the rights of journalists, monitor and advance the Human Rights situation, supervise the conduct of Elections, and encourage Regional Stabilization through arms control and confidence and security-building measures. The OSCE Mission continues to work closely with other international organizations and local institutions to implement the Dayton Peace Accords.
