OSCE releases first results from Bosnia and Herzegovina elections
SARAJEVO 13 November 2000
SARAJEVO, 13 November 2000 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina today released preliminary, partial general election results for the following races: Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina; National Assembly of the Republika Srpska; President and Vice President of Republika Srpska; Federation House of Representatives; and the ten Federation cantons.
The results are preliminary and include unaudited Municipal Election Commission (MEC) results and the first tranche of Counting Center results. It is important to note that the figures issued today include a high representation of out-of-country votes (OCV) since the sorting and counting of these ballots began at 1900 hrs on Saturday, 11 November at the Counting Center.
This number includes results from 68 of 146 MECs. It is important, therefore, to remember that these figures will change significantly as more results are processed. This could most significantly impact on the cantons, since one municipality reporting in a canton will have a large effect on the total vote count for that canton.
Preliminary results are listed below by race. Only the results for those parties with the highest number of votes are listed, as well as the total number of votes counted so far for that particular race. (The numbers will not add up since parties with smaller numbers of votes are not listed.) The full preliminary results for each race listed here will also be available on the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina website at www.oscebih.org.
Media representatives can also obtain copies at the Counting Center in Sarajevo. Final results will be made available only after the Provisional Election Commission has certified them.
