"Elections Song" launched today in Bosnia and Herzegovina
SARAJEVO 19 October 2000
SARAJEVO, 19 October 2000 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina is happy to announce the launch of its elections song and music video "Zgrabi svoju srecu".
The song and the music video were produced by the Sarajevo based video production firm "Anima Production". The performers are three popular young female singers from different regions of BiH: Irina Kapetanovic, Konjic, Marija Sestic, Banja Luka and Sanja Volic, Novi Travnik. The lyrics of the song carry the message that you can make a choice in life and that voting is a chance to shape your own future.
"No jobs, no money, no future! More than 60 percent of the young BiH population want to leave, to escape from this country. If we succeed to bring the young generation to the polling stations, if we get them interested in the future of their own country - we've done a good job. And there's no better way to reach the youth than through music." - said Ambassador Robert Barry, Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH.
The video was produced especially for the OSCE's Elections Department as part of the voters motivation youth campaign for the upcoming November General Elections 2000. "Zgrabi svoju srecu" will be shown on all TV stations in BiH from October 20th to Election Day.
The launch of the music video was held at the Obala Meeting Point Café. Copies of the song on CD were distributed for free.
