OSCE South-Eastern Europe Heads of Mission meet in Sarajevo
SARAJEVO, 11 September 2000 - The Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Robert L. Barry together with the OSCE Secretary General Jan Kubis is hosting a meeting of the Heads of the OSCE missions and offices in South-Eastern Europe. The meeting is being held in OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina Head Office in Sarajevo from 11 to 12 September 2000.
Among the attendees are the heads of OSCE missions and offices in Croatia, Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Kosovo, as well as the Montenegro office of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and representatives of the OSCE Secretariat, Austria as the current OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and Norway and Romania as the other two members of the OSCE Troika.
The participants discussed the technical aspects of election preparations in the region including the different levels of co-ordination of the OSCE's various regional election efforts. They also discussed the political interaction between the elections, with special emphasis on the effect of the FRY elections on the region.
Also discussed were the regional dimension of OSCE activities and projects being carried out under the Stability Pact, especially as concerns Working Table 1 on Human Rights and Democratization.
