Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens that turn 18 by election day need to register now

SARAJEVO, 4 July 2000 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina reminds all young Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens turning 18 by election day that they need to register as soon as possible in order to be able to vote in the November 11 general elections.
All citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina that wish to vote in the fall elections and have not registered so far, need to do so until latest July 10, 2000 at their closest Voter Registration Center. Addresses of all Voter Registration Centers as well as an in-country registration guide describing the registration process are available on the OSCE website at www.oscebih.org.
So far, the OSCE Mission has processed a total of 18,548 in-country registration forms, out of which 10,993 forms - 59 percent - were submitted by new registrants. In addition, the OSCE has received 16,201 registration forms from citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina residing outside of the country.
The OSCE established its present Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 December 1995. In accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace (GFAP), the OSCE Mission activities are to: promote Democratization and the building of a vibrant civil society, foster the development of professional journalism and monitor the rights of journalists, monitor and advance the Human Rights situation, supervise the conduct of Elections, and encourage Regional Stabilization through arms control and confidence and security-building measures. The OSCE Mission continues to work closely with other international organizations and local institutions to implement the Dayton Peace Accords.
