OSCE to release certified municipal election results for Bosnia and Herzegovina
SARAJEVO 20 April 2000
SARAJEVO, 20 April 2000 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Provisional Election Commission will announce the technically certified results of the April 2000 Municipal Elections later today during a news conference at the Counting Centre. This announcement takes place immediately following a session of the Provisional Election Commission, the body that issues the technical certification of the election results.
Media representatives are invited to attend the news conference, at 16:30 Thursday, 20 April, in the Sarajevo Counting Centre, Joint Institutions Building, Marin Dvor, Sarajevo. This event will conclude the series of press briefings which have been held at the Counting Centre.
The OSCE established its present Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 18 December 1995. In accordance with the General Framework Agreement for Peace, the OSCE activities are to promote democratization and the building of a vibrant civil society; foster the development of professional journalism and monitor the rights of journalists; monitor and advance the human rights situation; supervise the conduct of elections, and encourage Regional Stabilization through arms control and confidence and security-building measures.
The OSCE Mission continues to work closely with other international organizations and local institutions to implement the Dayton Peace Accords.
