Ways to improve education in defence and security Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina focus of OSCE seminar
SARAJEVO, 10 April 2013 – The sixth annual Strategic Politico-Military Seminar, focused on education and training in the defence and security sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina and co-organized by the OSCE Mission to BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH Joint Staff, opened in Sarajevo today.
“This year our focus is on education and training – one of the key agents of transformation and factors supporting institutional reform and contributing to the country’s progress in its strategic goal of Euro-Atlantic integration”, said Harald Quiel, the Director of the OSCE Mission’s Department of Security Co-operation. “Today countries face much more complex security challenges than in the past, so flexibility in education and training for security and defence are more crucial than ever”.
Some 60 participants representing the Ministries of Defence, Security and Interior, police institutions, the BiH Armed Forces, NATO, the German Armed Forces, the Swiss Inter-Cantonal Police School and the OSCE as well as training and education professionals will take part in group lectures and discussions and conduct syndicate work.
“We will incorporate the recommendations from this seminar into developing a new concept of training and introducing an inovative approach to education so as to be ready to respond to modern security challenges,” Acting Chief of the BiH Joint Staff Ante Jeleč said.
