Conference in Kazakhstan to discuss small business

ALMATY, 6 May 2002 - The problems of small businesses in Kazakhstan, prospects for improving the legal framework and investment opportunities will be discussed at a conference in Almaty on 14 May.
The "Legal Framework for Small Scale Enterprises in the Republic of Kazakhstan" conference will give special attention to corruption, the protection of rights and interests of entrepreneurs, development of the court system and legal culture. The event is held in the framework of the Eurasia Foundation project "Legal Aspects of Business in the Republic of Kazakhstan for Foreign Entrepreneurs".
The OSCE Centre in Almaty is organizing the conference together with the Eurasian Foundation and the Tax Standards Formation Fund. Representatives of the Government of Kazakhstan including tax and customs departments, non-governmental organizations, business and the international community are invited to participate in the event, which is also supported by the Department on Small Business of the Almaty Municipality.
