OSCE co-organizes expert roundtable on state financing of media in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported roundtable discussion on state financing of media took place in Astana on 2 March 2017 with the aim of exploring how to improve the system of state procurement and mechanisms to ensure efficient monitoring and evaluation of projects supported through government funding.
The event for some 50 parliamentarians, officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations as well as media experts and journalists was co-organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana together with the Soros Foundation Kazakhstan and the Legal Media Centre NGO. Experts from Estonia and Belarus shared their countries’ experiences.
The event is part of the Office’s activities aimed at promoting media freedom and freedom of expression in line with OSCE principles and commitments.
