OSCE facilitates working meeting for border guards in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported three-day working meeting for the Border Guard Service under the National Security Committee concluded on 14 December 2016 in Astana.
The event aimed to facilitate the exchange of experience between experts from Latvia’s State Border Guard and local officials to further develop legal and procedural instruments to enhance border security. The meeting was organized by the European Union-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) with support from the OSCE Programme Office in Astana.
Participants shared their country’s experience in organizing border representatives’ activities. They discussed in particular legal procedures that regulate these activities in-country and with bordering states as well as the lessons learned in the establishing an organizational structure.
The event is part of the Office’s long-standing efforts to promote border security in the host country.
