OSCE Centre in Astana supports seminar for prosecutors on resolving disputes
A two-day training seminar aimed at enhancing prosecutors’ knowledge and skills in dealing with, and resolving disputes was held on 21 and 22 July 2014 in Astana.
The event was co-organized by the OSCE Centre in Astana and the Advanced Studies Institute under the Prosecutor General’s Office for some 30 prosecutors from regions across Kazakhstan.
Mediation experts from the Russian Federation and local mediators from Kazakhstan introduced participants to the main theories in conflict studies and practical approaches to solving disputes by applying conflict prevention techniques. The training also touched on reconciliation and mediation as an alternative to criminal prosecution.
The seminar is part of the Centre’s long-term efforts to support ongoing criminal justice reform in Kazakhstan by providing training aimed at enhancing the professional knowledge and skills of officials of law enforcement agencies.
