OSCE Centre supports training seminar on countering drug trafficking in Kazakhstan
A three-day training seminar on best practices in countering drug trafficking began in Almaty on 2 April 2014.
Some 40 officers of law enforcement agencies, border service and customs committee will learn from Georgian and Lithuanian experts about their countries’ experience with operational activities of crime detection. The participants will also examine cases of using controlled deliveries and working through undercover agents. During a practical exercise, the officers will be taught the methods to identify signs of smuggling activities.
The OSCE Centre in Astana, EU-UNDP Border Management Programme in Central Asia and the US Embassy co-organized this event.
The seminar is part of the Centre in Astana’s activities to enhance Kazakhstan’s abilities to counter and prevent drug trafficking.
