Future border guards discuss land and maritime security management at OSCE training in Turkmenistan

On 20-24 April 2015, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat organized training lectures on border security and management for 120 cadets at the Border Institute in Ashgabat.
The five-day course focused on modern land and maritime border security and management procedures and mechanisms and aimed at enhancing the capacities of future border officials to conduct relevant border protection and management operations.
An OSCE expert presented border control models, factors and influences in border security, modern border security challenges and strategic trade controls. The cadets learnt about targeting and selection of vehicles for screening as well as effective tools and technology of their examination. Special attention was paid to the importance of interagency and international co-operation.
The training lectures were organized as part of the Centre’s ongoing project aimed at building the capacity of law enforcement and security officials of Turkmenistan in countering transnational threats.
