OSCE Presence provides Albania’s electoral body with computers ahead of local government elections
The OSCE Presence in Albania provided 35 computers to the Central Election Commission (CEC) on 30 March 2011. The computers will be used in the preparation and administration of the 8 May local government elections.
The computers, which will be returned after the election results have been announced, will be mainly used by the middle-level electoral commissions, the Commissions of Electoral Administration Zones (CEAZs) and the CEC’s Electoral Regional Offices.
The computers are provided as part of the OSCE Presence's technical assistance to the Central Election Commission. This assistance aims to help electoral administration bodies improve their performance and increase their professionalism.
The OSCE Presence also financed TV ads and leaflets produced by the Central Election Commission to inform voters about the importance of their participation in the electoral process. In addition, the Presence hired an expert to support the Commission's training and public relations department and financed the printing of the Electoral Code and other documents for the CEAZs.
