TIRANA 16 September 2004
TIRANA, 16 September 2004 - The OSCE Presence in Albania supports the declaration of the European Union regarding the pace of reform in Albania and fully shares its opinion.
With respect to electoral reform, the Presence urges all political parties to use this opportunity to redouble their efforts to achieve an appropriate and lasting solution to the issues identified by the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Council of Europe's Venice Commission, and in particular to balancing the composition of the Central Election Commission and improving the voter lists.
The OSCE Presence is committed to continue providing assistance to the electoral reform process and the other areas of reform in the fields of rule of law, human rights and institution-building necessary for Albania's rapprochement to Euro-Atlantic structures.
