OSCE Presence to observe re-run of local government elections in Albania

TIRANA, 14 November 2003 - The OSCE Presence in Albania will deploy a number of teams to observe the re-run of the October local government elections on 16 November.
The Albanian Central Election Commission has decided to re-run partially or fully the elections in ten communes, which include 36 polling stations in Albania.
Following the closure on 24 October of the Election Observation Mission of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), it was agreed that the November re-run elections will be covered by the OSCE Presence, in co-operation with OSCE/ODIHR and bilateral embassies in Albania.
