OSCE Presence in Albania denies allegations regarding 1998 referendum report
TIRANA 2 August 2000
TIRANA, 1 August 2000 - The OSCE Presence in Albania has noticed that some newspapers keep reporting incorrect statements from party political sources regarding the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Observation Mission held in Albania in November 1998.
It has for instance been alleged that "ODIHR's refusal to compile a report on the 1998 Referendum is proof of the lack of seriousness on the part of the ODIHR and its observation mission".
Such allegations have no foundation in fact.
The OSCE Presence in Albania would like to state, once again, that the ODIHR "Report on the Referendum on the Constitution" was indeed compiled and was made public on 1 February 1999.
The full text of the Report is available on the Internet at the following address:

Hard copies of the ODIHR Report (in English) are available at the OSCE Press and Public Information Office in Tirana.
