OSCE Presence in Albania supports public campaign for youth on fight against corruption
The OSCE Presence in Albania and the National Co-ordinator against Corruption launched on 2 December 2015 a renewed public information campaign under the slogan Show the Face of Corruption. The newest component of the campaign is a series of lectures on anti-corruption in around 30 high schools and universities across the country, which will run until 18 December. In addition, posters and banners are put on display in towns across the country and also on several of the most visited online portals.
The university lectures, which will be delivered by a number of public figures, are mostly designed as interactive discussions to engage students in critical thinking. Topics include an introduction to corruption definition as a global phenomenon; causes of corruption in Albania; the social, political, economic and criminal consequences of corruption; and ways to fight corruption.
As part of the public campaign, the OSCE Presence has also launched an essay competition, Young people say no to corruption, to encourage students to reflect on the consequences of corruption and the negative effects it has in society, and to establish a zero tolerance to this phenomenon. The prize for the three best essays will be a summer course on anti-corruption at an international academy.
The public information campaign is part of the activities organized by the OSCE Presence under the project supporting the anti-corruption measures in Albania, which is also supported by the Italian Government, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Italian School of Public Administration.
