ODIHR shares expertise with Parliamentary Ad-hoc Committee on Electoral Reform in Albania
A team of experts from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) is providing assistance to the Parliamentary Ad-hoc Committee on Electoral Reform in following up on ODIHR electoral recommendations. As part of this assistance, the team, during a visit to Tirana from 7 to 9 March 2018, shared expertise and good practices for effective electoral reform with the Committee.
The Committee plans to propose legal amendments in five key reform areas, namely election administration, campaigning, voter registration, the use of new voting technologies and out-of-country voting.
The experts will co-operate with the Committee throughout its six-month mandate, to assist in the implementation of the electoral reforms.
The experts also met with representatives of the Central Election Commission as part of the visit.
The visit was co-ordinated with the OSCE Presence in Albania.
All OSCE participating States have committed themselves to promptly following up on ODIHR’s election assessments and recommendations, and ODIHR has consistently supported these efforts.
The visit was part of the project Support to Elections in the Western Balkans, which builds upon this work.
The project is funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.
