Police and Roma and Sinti communities

Strengthening the capacity of law enforcement personnel working with Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities to ensure the protection and promotion of human rights in the course of policing was the focus of a training course organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), from 17 to 19 April 2018 in Prishtinë/Priština.

Ensuring security for the Roma community in Ukraine was the focus of discussions at a side event organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) on 18 September 2017, during the annual Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw.

ODIHR has developed Training on Effective and Human Rights-Compliant Policing in Roma and Sinti Communities to strengthen the capacities of police officers operating at the local level in working effectively with Roma and Sinti and mixed communities, while complying with international human rights standards.
