Gender equality

The Presence promotes civil society development and youth mainstreaming by engaging with civil society, youth leaders and activists at the central and local level through civil society forums, meetings, public activities, field visits and online events. The Presence supports women empowerment and women access to decision-making through a series of interventions ranging from donor co-ordination efforts to direct support to raise the capacities of locally elected women officials.

In addition to supporting co-ordination on women in decision-making, the Presence adopts innovative semi-formal outreach formats appealing to a wider interested public audience to discuss gender equality and youth participation, challenges and concerns as located in the context of the Albanian society.

The Presence systematically contributes to the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Albania in conjunction to its civil society, national and international development partners. Since 2019, the Presence implements a Women Municipal Excellence Program bringing together active and talented women councillors from all over Albania, in a module-based capacity-building intervention, aimed at intertwining capacity building with empowerment for gender equality.
