OSCE Zagreb Mission to monitor transferred ICTY war crimes cases
ZAGREB, 14 July 2006 - The OSCE Mission in Croatia issued the following statement today:
"Responding to inquiries about the role of the OSCE in monitoring war crimes cases transferred from the International War Crimes Tribunal in the Hague to Croatia, the OSCE Mission in Croatia reiterates that, as agreed in the exchange of letters between the ICTY Prosecutor and the OSCE Chairman-in-Office in May 2005, the Mission will monitor the transferred war crimes cases on behalf of the OSCE, as well as on behalf of the Prosecutor, as long as the Mission continues in operation.
In the case of the mandate not being extended, the OSCE would assist the Office of the Prosecutor in identifying new solutions for ensuring the continuation of the monitoring."
