OSCE Centre promotes summer training camp on democratic values and principles
DUSHANBE, 28 July 2005 - A 12-day summer camp for students which aims to help them learn about the values of democracy and elections opened in Tajikistan today.
Its programme will include seminars led by qualified experts on democracy-building, elections, political parties, migration issues and the fight against drug trafficking.
The camp, which was organized by the Kulyab field office of the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe, has attracted some 80 Tajik students.
"Developing an understanding of the principles and values that underpin democracy and economic development is one of the most important tasks facing this generation of Tajikistan youth," said Alain Couanon, Head of the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe.
"This summer camp will provide its young participants will the essential tools to work towards these goals. The future of your country is in your hands", he added.
More than 100 representatives from local municipal authorities, the media, and resident international organizations attended an opening ceremony held at the camp.
