This little book tells the story of Erkinay- a young Kyrgyz girl who was kidnapped to be a bride.

The report is the result of monitoring conducted by the Kylym Shamy NGO in 2015 of military institutions across the country with the aim of promoting transparency and public confidence in the armed forces. It analyzes practices and concerns related to the respect for citizens’ rights during their recruitment into the armed forces, and the rights and freedoms of military personnel as they conduct military service. The report features recommendations to the Kyrgyz Government on ensuring the protection of human rights in compliance with national and international obligations. It is not available in English.

This report contains a survey, which aims at identifying the scope of corruption, its causes and negative effects, as well as the prevalence of corruption in the interaction of entrepreneurs with state authorities when receiving state and municipal services. It presents factors that influence the level of corruption, identifyies capabilities to combat corruption and offers recommendations for the anti-corruption policy implementation, based on the research results. This research paper contains articles regarding the current situation with respect to religion and religious freedom in Kyrgyzstan. The authors concentrated their attention on issues of compliance with the right to practice religion in Kyrgyzstan. Materials in the paper disclose relationships established between religious organizations and governmental institutions and issues of interfaith relations; there is also a brief overview of the history of religion in the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The publication is directed to a wide range of professionals, human rights and religious organizations.

This report was prepared as a result of implementing a project called Promoting Freedom of Assembly in the Kyrgyz Republic, which was supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and the German Foreign Ministry. This report is intended for state bodies, non-governmental organizations, human rights defenders, and others with an interest in the challenges of observing the right to peaceful assembly in Kyrgyzstan.

This 2012 report was produced following the implementation of two projects called Addressing Human Rights in Closed Facilities in Kyrgyzstan through Nationally Owned Human Rights Mechanisms and Increasing Police Accountability with the Introduction of Civil Society Monitoring Mechanisms, which were supported by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, as well as the Freedom House Project on Strengthening Human Rights in Kyrgyzstan, and financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The report is meant for public institutions, nongovernmental organizations, human rights defenders and other individuals who are interested in respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms and conditions in temporary detention facilities and reception centres under the Ministry of Interior and in pre-trial and remand places of detention under the jurisdiction of the State Service for the Execution of Punishments.
