Fifth Partnership Platform meeting concludes in Dushanbe
On 31 October 2023, the fifth Partnership Platform meeting took place, bringing together the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) and representatives of Tajikistan’s Government. The meeting focused on the achievements of the POiD in 2023 and outlined a strategic co-operation plan for 2024.
The event brought together about 50 participants, including staff of the OSCE POiD and representatives of the Tajik Government. The meeting provided a platform to discuss the OSCE's activities in the host country within the three dimensions of the OSCE’s comprehensive and co-operative approach to security. The Tajik delegation was headed by Jamshed Homidzoda, Head of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, and the OSCE delegation was led by Jukka Tuononen, the Officer-in-Charge (Acting) of the POiD.
Jamshed Homidzoda emphasized the importance of the initiative and said: “This meeting will enable us to take effective steps to solve existing issues and problems in order to implement future plans related to the country's real needs and existing challenges. We should create favorable conditions for even more effective achievement of Tajikistan's goals towards sustainable development.”
“The OSCE has enjoyed nearly 30 years of fruitful partnership with Government and people of Tajikistan. The establishment of the Partnership Platform was a key milestone in this partnership and I am confident that today’s discussion will be fruitful in terms of identifying key priorities for next steps together to continue building upon this great work,” emphasized Adelina Marku, Deputy Head of Mission, OSCE Chairpersonship of North Macedonia.
“This event is a great opportunity to reflect on our joint achievements and to explore areas where we can work more closely together. I look forward to hearing from you, our partners, and receiving your inputs and feedback on our proposals for 2024. The Partnership Platform is first and foremost an opportunity for an open dialogue and co-operation,” said Catherine Fearon, Deputy Director of the OSCE Secretariat’s Conflict Prevention Centre.
The Programme Office in Dushanbe continues to engage successfully with the government and people of Tajikistan in the implementation of 22 projects across all three dimensions of security.
The Partnership Platform was launched in 2018 to reinforce co-operation between the POiD and Tajikistan based on genuine partnership, local ownership, openness, and transparency. The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe will pursue its activities in 2024 in Tajikistan, in line with its existing mandate and the relevant priorities of the host country.
