Mandate extension recommended for OSCE Media Representative
VIENNA 1 June 2001
VIENNA, 1 June 2001 (OSCE) - The OSCE Permanent Council has recommended to the Ministerial Council to extend the mandate of Freimut Duve as OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media to 31 December 2003.
Mr. Duve was appointed as the first OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media in January 1998. In its recommendation, the Permanent Council underlined the important contribution of Mr. Duve's office to the promotion of the freedom of expression and free media in the OSCE area.
