OSCE PA President strongly condemns Ankara attack
COPENHAGEN, 18 February 2016 – OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Ilkka Kanerva (MP, Finland) issued the following statement on the 17 February terror attack in Ankara:
"On behalf of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, I condemn in the strongest terms the deadly attack on military personnel and civilians in Ankara. Turkey has yet again been struck by the scourge of terrorism, for which there is never any justification and which accomplishes nothing but senseless violence. The international community must redouble its efforts to cut off terrorism at its sources and work co-operatively to combat this collective threat. I express my deepest condolences to the people and government of Turkey, and especially to the survivors and to the loved ones of those killed or injured."
The OSCE PA's Committee on Political Affairs and Security will hold a special debate on the theme “Transnational Security in the OSCE Area: Confronting Terrorism" at the Assembly's Winter Meeting in Vienna on 26 February.
