OSCE Mission supports safe schools project in Skopje
On 7 November 2012, the OSCE Mission in Skopje supported a sports day at the 8th September Secondary School in Skopje, as part of a project on safe schools. The project aims to prevent school violence, and will especially benefit municipalities at risk of interethnic and juvenile violence.
The sports day was organized by School Safety Teams (SST) from all six schools involved in the project in Skopje. Some 100 students took part in five sports supported by around 150 other students, teachers, parents and members of the SSTs.
The event gave pupils from different schools, as well as from different ethnic and social backgrounds the opportunity to mix together in a very friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. The project builds on a successful pilot scheme in 2011 in Kumanovo municipality.
