The Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Jennifer Brush, visited the city of Ştefan-Vodă in the south-eastern part of the country, including Olanesti village close to the Ukrainian border, on 13 February 2013.
In Stefan-Vodă, Ambassador Brush met local officials, as well as representatives of the Russian language school and Russian diaspora; in Olanesti she met the mayor, Petru Marcov.
During the meetings, Brush discussed human rights, national minorities and administrative decentralization and economic development in the context of a political settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict.
“This is my first visit as OSCE mission head to this part of the country. I am very happy to have open discussions with the local authorities as well as community and minority representatives to assess the needs of the population and see where we can help through our various projects,” said Brush. “I also welcome the opportunity to discuss with local people the benefits of conflict resolution.”
