OSCE Mission to Moldova-supported debate discusses youth motivation in choosing career
The key factors and decision-making that go into choosing a career path were the issues up for discussion at the second debate tournament for high school students, organized by the OSCE Mission to Moldova from 22 to 23 October 2016 in Vadul-lui-Voda, a town by the Dniester/Nistru River.
The debate tournament aimed to improve the abilities of 35 young people from Bender, Cahul, Ceadir-Lunga, Comrat, Taraclia, Tiraspol and Vulcanesti to evaluate the importance of various factors in choosing their profession and using distinct arguments for their position.
“Debate tournaments are very useful when it comes to improving analytical thinking and presentation skills as well as broadening horizons. I am certain that my participation in this training course and the know-how gained will increase my chances of enrolment at university,” said Nikita Konovalov, a high school student from Cahul.
The tournament is organized as part of a one-year project implemented jointly by the OSCE Mission to Moldova and Comrat-based NGO Piligrim-Demo, which aims to actively engage national minority youth in local and national democratic processes by developing their debating skills.
