OSCE organizes public debate on political pluralism in Moldova
ORHEI, Moldova, 10 April – The OSCE Mission to Moldova started today a series of public debates to strengthen the capacities of political parties in the context of decentralization and democratization of Moldova.
The first round of public debates was held in the town of Orhei in central Moldova. Local authorities, counselors, civil society representatives, representatives of main political parties, local businesswomen and men, leaders of local institutions and students took part in it. The event specifically focused on topics such as political pluralism and increased women’s and youth representation in political parties.
“We hope that these series of public debates across Moldovan regions will strengthen political pluralism and transparency in the decision-making process,” said Rita Tamm, rule-of-law adviser in the OSCE Mission to Moldova
The public debates will be taking place in Orhei, Balti, Comrat and Cahul. The OSCE Mission implements this project with the local non-governmental organization IDIS Viitorul.
Parliamentary elections in Moldova will take place later this year.
