OSCE Mission helps improve reintegration of repatriated persons in Kosovo
Through a series of five regional roundtable meetings, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo is facilitating central-local level dialogue aimed at improving the reintegration of repatriated persons in Kosovo.
The first event took place on 14 February, in Mitrovicë/Mitrovica. It focused on relevant policies and legislation and their effective implementation. The roundtable brought together experts from the central level institutions and key municipal officials working in health, social welfare, education, property, infrastructure and public services sectors.
“The reintegration of repatriated persons from all communities requires the coordinated efforts of both central and local levels institutions,” said the director of the OSCE Mission’s Human Rights and Communities Department, Susan Heintz. “We are here to assist them in their efforts and to help improve the respect for human rights and rights of repatriated persons.”
The Mission’s recent booklet for municipal officials on the reception and reintegration of repatriated persons will be used as the main reference document during the discussions. The remaining events will take place in Gjilan/Gnjilane, Pejë/Peć, Prishtinë/Priština, concluding in Prizren on 4 March 2011.
