OSCE to open ninth NGO resource centre in Kosovo

PRISTINA, 23 November 2000 - On 24 November 2000, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo is inaugurating a new NGO Resource Centre in Fushë Kosovë/ Kosovo Polje. The Centres are designed for the local NGO community to have access to office and training facilities and resources.
The OSCE Mission, through its Democratization Department, is working to create a favorable environment for the establishment and development of NGO and Civil Society structures in Kosovo. By establishing the NGO Centres, the OSCE contributes to the goal of building democratic institutions through support for local grassroots initiatives and promotion of greater citizen participation in public life.
The NGO Resource Centre will facilitate the development of local NGOs by providing venue for meetings and discussions. The Centres also provide information, assistance and a meeting point for NGOs while offering computers, phone, fax, copiers and rooms for meetings and training. Services are provided in both Albanian and Serbian.
The NGO Resource Centre in Fushë Kosovë / Kosovo Polje is located next to the House of Culture. The working hours are on Monday - Friday 8.30 - 19.00 hrs and Saturdays 9.00 - 16.00 hrs, tel. 66022.
This is the ninth NGO Resource Center established by the OSCE. The other Centres are in Gjakovë/Dakovica, Gjilan/Gnjilane, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica, Leposaviq/Leposavic, Pejë/Pec, Prishtinë/Pristina, Prizren and Strpce/Shtërpce. By this, the OSCE has assisted NGOs and contributed further to Kosovo s vibrant NGO community.
The representatives of NGOs and media are welcome to attend the opening of the NGO Center on Friday, 24 November at 15.30.
