Head of OSCE Mission in Kosovo calls for professional standards in media reporting
PRISHTINË/PRIŠTINA, 20 January 2017 – The Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, Jan Braathu, reiterated today the critical need for media in Kosovo to uphold moral and ethical journalism, maintain professional standards, and refrain from publishing material that may cause tension or unduly undermine the personal and professional integrity of individuals.
Reacting to a recent article on the website of the public broadcaster RTK, Braathu said: “I call on all journalists and editors to ensure in their work a respect for factual truth and rely on credible information. Print, online, radio, and television media, and in particular the public broadcaster, have an obligation to hear and represent all sides of a story.”
“Professional journalism is a cornerstone of democracy and stability in any society. This notion is especially important in the political climate following recent developments,” added Braathu.
