OSCE Mission in Kosovo trains lawyers on cross-examination
From 4 to 7 November 2014 the OSCE Mission in Kosovo trained 68 lawyers on cross-examination techniques at training sessions held in Prishtinë/Priština and Prizren.
Cross-examination is a relatively new concept in Kosovo arising from the shift to an adversarial criminal judicial system and the criminal procedure code enacted in January 2013.
“The training has provided me with an excellent insight into cross-examination techniques. I will try to adapt it to my cases before the courts in accordance with the criminal procedure code,” stated Rasim Krasniqi, a lawyer from Prizren and one of the training participants.
The training participants, all members of the Kosovo Chamber of Advocates, stated that similar training sessions would be also beneficial for judges and prosecutors.
The OSCE Mission in Kosovo is mandated with human and community rights protection and promotion, democratization, and public safety sector development. It supports judges, prosecutors and lawyers in achieving greater compliance with procedural rules governing civil, criminal and administrative cases.
