OSCE Centre presents multimedia equipment to Kyrgyz Police Academy
BISHKEK, 3 July 2008 - The OSCE Centre in Bishkek today handed over multimedia equipment to the Kyrgyzstan Police Academy to support modern teaching methods.
The donation took place at the annual graduation ceremony, where 255 diplomas were handed out. It was attended by Interior Minister Moldomusa Kongantiyev, Education Minister Ishengul Boljurova, the Rector of the Police Academy Abdykapar Mavlyanov, and OSCE Police Adviser Vladimir Tkachenko.
"The OSCE Centre has supported the Police Academy since 2003, and has been involved in different projects aimed at promoting democracy and professional police training," said Tkachenko. "We hope our co-operation will continue in the same spirit.
The OSCE Centre has also provided the Academy with furniture for its library, office and video equipment to help improve study conditions, and automobiles for field training in the regions. It has also helped the Academy develop its own website.
Aslanbek Kulbaev, the Deputy Chairman of the Police Academy, thanked the OSCE Centre for its support, saying: "The new equipment will allow us to offer a higher quality of education, and increase interactive teaching methods."
The assistance has been provided in the framework of the OSCE project "Improving education and human rights awareness of police".
The Academy is the only high education institution in the country with multilevel training of high qualified personnel for the Interior Ministry.
