OSCE organizes course on website management for state institutions in Turkmenistan
ASHGABAT, 28 November 2014 – Launching and managing online resources of state institutions was the topic of an OSCE-organized course that concluded in Ashgabat today.
The three-day course brought together 25 content managers and IT specialists representing Turkmenistan’s key ministries, the Mejlis (Parliament), law-enforcement bodies, financial institutions and media.
“The OSCE committed its participating States to foster the free flow of information and calls on governments to use the Internet to facilitate wider access to information”, said Ambassador Ivo Petrov, Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat.
“We organized this course to contribute to the efforts of Turkmenistan’s government to increase the effectiveness of online resources of state institutions and further improve the channels of information dissemination”.
International experts shared experiences on how government websites should be organized and what information they should provide to website users. They highlighted the importance of identifying the audiences and establishing rules and regulations when launching websites. The course also addressed the layout and content structure of the websites of state institutions as well as internal management of the content and websites.
In addition to that, participants discussed how the effectiveness of government online resources can be measured and practiced in developing the maps of their websites.
